When it comes to creativity, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
But that's what so many of us do – working long hours, eating lunch at our desks and feeling uninspired.
Is it any wonder we’re feeling burnt out and unmotivated?
Between the Zoom Groundhog Day vibes…
...working from your spare room or an empty office, away from colleagues and creative collaboration...
...not to mention the constant pressure to come up with creative solutions to fit the new normal...
...the last year has probably left you feeling far more like Eeyore than Tigger when it comes to motivation, ideas and creativity.
Here’s the thing:
To get yourself in a great state to create, you need to do less, not more
But how? Our lives are so busy. There’s always a notification or a last-minute request to drag your attention elsewhere and dry up your creative juices.
An hour walking outdoors; a short meditation; a new creative hobby.
You know what you’re supposed to do.
But you’re so busy, it really does feel like there’s no time for anything else…
...so you’re still not doing it. And the creativity your role at work relies on is nowhere to be seen.
"Breaks are not a deviation from performance, but are actually a part of it.” Daniel Pink, #1 New York Times bestselling author.
Research published in the Annual Review of Psychology has shown letting the mind wander is one of the best ways to foster creativity.
And according to leading experts at the World Economic Forum, creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking are key skills essential for the future workforce.
But from our decade of training experience and leading creative teams, we know that people under time pressure feel guilty for needing space and time to let their creative minds meander.
So, here’s your permission slip...

Waiting for you inside Get Yourself In A Great State To Create...
... are 12 mini modules, ranging in time from two minutes to an hour. From guided vision boards to desk yoga and coaching on mindset and finding your purpose, each one is designed to get your creative juices flowing.
Module 1: How are you today? A check in.
Close your eyes and check-in with how you’re feeling. Do you need a physical, mental or spiritual boost? What’s blocking your creative mojo right now? Take what you need, when you need it.
Module 2: Take a photo safari
Channel your inner Rankin and snap anything and everything that inspires you. Step away from your desk and look at the world around you from a different perspective.
Module 3: Desk yoga
Working from home during lockdown has our joints suffering. Take a moment to stretch, breathe and clear your mind. And breathe…
Module 4: Improve your mood. Park your emotional baggage.
So often it’s those nagging thoughts and to-dos that stop us accessing a creative state. Learn to ditch your emotional baggage and free up your brain for big-picture thinking.
Module 5: Focus on the positive
Practising gratitude helps us to face challenges better when they do come up – an essential part of creativity and innovation. Learn some of our favourite techniques.
Module 6: Be in the moment
Listen to The Raisin Meditation, your new secret weapon to get present.
Module 7: Blue-sky thinking, allowed
Lots of creativity methods invite us to embrace the random and 'force connections'. So, it’s time to get outside, look up, and see how you can let your imagination wander using what you see in the clouds.
Module 8: Mindset | Goodbye inner critic, hello inner coach
Curated alongside the mindset coach to CEOs and celebrities alike, James Mallinson, learn to notice what you're saying to yourself each day, and flip your inner critic to an inner coach.
Module 9: Abandon reality and invent something useless
Yes, really! By imagining an idea that’s useless or unworkable, it stops us worrying about perfection and sparks far more do-able ideas. This lesson takes you through the process.
Module 10: Vision board | If you can see it you can be it
Now Go Create founder Claire Bridges guides you through how to create a vision board (and why they work) in this hands-on exercise.
Module 11: Purpose. A small word, fully loaded.
If you don't believe in what you're doing, finding solutions to problems you don't feel invested in will be tough. These exercises will get you thinking about your big ‘why’ and how to bring more of that to your work.
Module 12: Where will you go next?
Continue your creative adventure and take a look at the other ways we can help you unleash your creativity to upskill yourself for the future of work.
